New mounting
The PK-4 prototype mounted in a vertical position.
Click for a description of the components!
Cathode side
Dark space near the cathode and
striations in the positive column
Anode side
Striations reaching the anode
Old gas
Discharge with contaminated gas
with heavy striations
New gas
After gas refreshing: the striations
are gone (or invisible?)
Camera
The discharge is 'burning' into the
vacuum tube, instead of the cathode.
Has to be avoided in next model.
DC Operation
Distortion of the (regular!) background
pattern (holes) by the glass tube. Note:
The right screw can be seen twice!
