Plasma Chemistry
Back to Basic Research
Characteristics of atmospheric plasmas
- The concentration and composition of reactive molecules produced
in Cold Atmospheric Plasmas depends on the gases used, the gas flow,
power applied, humidity level etc.
- Reactive components are the product of a non-equilibrium plasma-gas
phase chemistry, which is only poorly understood at present.
- Chemical reaction networks with over 200 important reactions
are being developed for our plasma devices*
- Some of the major components (produced in air) are
OH, *OH, H2O2, O, O3, NO, NOx,
plus some ions, e.g. OH-, O+, O2+,
N+, N2+ etc.
