Data Analysis

4. Data Mining Aspects
So far, the data base consists of:
- a few hundreds of patients
- personal data (age, sex)
- basic disease, medical history and status, allergological indications, etc
- wound characteristics (altogether up to 200 entries)
- far more than 1000 treatments
- a few thousands of images
- thousands of microbiological findings
Beside the primary data analysis aspects (description of wound healing, bacterial load etc.)
we see the challenging opportunity to search for patterns in the associated large data base,
to corroborate hypotheses and to unveil unknown relations among the several variables.
One of the future aims is to provide a digital workplace for a quantitative wound
assessment, where for instance ''wound severeness'' could be indicated by a computer
based index.
